INMODE Forma-I Radiofrequency Treatment (RF) For Dry Eye
Inmode Forma Radiofrequency (RF) is a safe, non-invasive dry eye treatment for dry eye syndrome. The treatment applies RF energy to open clogged glands and improve oil flow, enhancing tear film quality and reducing dry eye symptoms.
The three main benefits of RF are:
- Heats meibomian glands for expressions safely
- Strengthens existing collagen in the dermal layer
- Boosts the creation of fresh collagen in the deeper layers of the skin
What To Expect During Your Treatment
During the treatment, your optometrist will use a specialized heat-generating tool to massage your upper eyelid and the skin underneath your lower eyelid, triggering collagen formation in the skin around the eyes to reduce inflammation. The treatment facilitates meibomian gland expression, tightens the collagen in the skin around the eyes, and stimulates collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin, ensuring longer-lasting results. The procedure’s non-invasive nature makes it an excellent alternative to traditional dry eye syndrome treatments.
INMODE Lumecca Intense Pulse Light Treatment (IPL) For Dry Eye
IPL treats the underlying cause of dry eyes, usually meibomian gland dysfunction, by unclogging the glands and restoring normal oil flow. The glands secrete meibum, which coats the eyes, slowing tear evaporation. Thicker secretions can block the glands, causing dry eye syndrome. IPL can be effective for other causes, too.
IPL technology delivers controlled light pulses to the facial tissue to target pigmented lesions and blood vessels. This stimulation results in a significant reduction of inflammatory levels along the eyelid margin. The energy, wavelengths, pulse rate, and duration of the Lumecca light can be customized to suit the severity of each patient’s dry eye.
What To Expect During Your treatment
During the IPL procedure, your optometrist will place shields over your eyelids and apply a gel to protect your skin. Light pulses will then be administered using a small device, which may cause some heat. The optometrist may also express oil from the meibomian glands. In most cases, dry eye symptoms improve immediately, but additional treatments are usually recommended. Four sessions are typical.
The advantages of Lumecca IPL treatment are:
- Decline in dry eye symptoms and ocular rosacea
- Reduction of abnormal blood vessels to ease inflammation
- A safe and convenient in-office procedure
- Customized treatment to meet your specific needs
- Additional aesthetic benefits such as reduced redness, sunspots, and hyperpigmentation
IPL and RF treatments are non-invasive, efficient, and effective procedures that relieve dry eye symptoms. They are safe and clinically proven treatments recently approved by Health Canada. At Tsawwassen Optometry Clinic, these procedures are performed by trained professionals who prioritize patient comfort and satisfaction.
